1. Freshness - Is the product mostly fresh and not processed? 2. Meat - Your Dog is a carnivore and it's important that they a good portion of the protein they eat is meat. 3. Fruit & Veggies - Dogs need their vitamins too. 4. Mix It Up - By giving your dog a variety of dog foods, you are ensuring that they get different types of foods in different quantities. This helps to fill in the gaps in their diet. 5. Supplement - It's always a good idea to think about adding a vitamin, omega 3's and other supplements depending on which diet you choose. Visit with your vet if you are unsure where your dog's diet might be lacking.
Once you have decided what you want to look for in the ingredients of your Natural Dog Food, you will want to consider the health benefits that such a diet can give your dog. As I mentioned before, many pet owners shy away from a Natural or Organic Dog Food Diet because they are worried about the cost but perhaps they should consider the benefits first and know that there are affordable alternatives out there.
Do you spend time and money on your dog's skin allergies looking for some type of relief? You've probably tried shampoos or attempted to rub some sort of cream into the skin through all of that fur, am I right? Well, did you know that feeding your dog a diet of Natural Dog Food and Organic Dog Food can actually improve your dog's immune system which will help build up his resistance to skin infections? Now that means that you need to eliminate all chemicals, toxins and anything artificial in their food. You might just be amazed at what you could save in vet bills and medications by changing your dog's diet! I can also introduce you to supplements that are beneficial. I have one in particular that I have used for years that works wonders on Hot Spots!
Does your dog have tummy troubles? Maybe they are always gassing you off the couch or have diarrhea or you see them vomit? Did you know that some of that could be attributed to the fillers in their regular dog food.
Most of the commercial dog foods are made with large amounts of fillers which requires your dog to eat more than he needs to get the required amount of nutrients. This is why your dog has indigestion. It is difficult for their stomach to process all of the fillers in their dog food. When you switch to a Natural Dog Food or Organic Dog Food Diet it eliminates these bulk fillers and allows your dog to eat only until they are full and actually get the nutrition that they need. You will also notice that they not only eat less but that their bowel movements are considerably less in frequency and size. This is due to the decreased volume in fillers that they eat. Oh, and here's the real bonus, your dog will be giving you a break on those smelly couch treats! YEAH!!! It's all due to a better diet and not eating fillers that they don't need and you don't need to be paying for.
How active is your dog? Are they healthy or have they gradually become sedentary like someone on a BonBon and soda diet and chips diet? Well, in some ways that's exactly what some dog foods can lead to especially if a dog becomes overweight. How does a Natural Dog Food make a difference? As I talked about before, it doesn't contain fillers but it's more than that. By not containing fillers, your dog is only consuming the nutritional value of natural food they need each day to survive and function. They don't have to keep eating larger portions because they haven't been nutritionally satisfied. You will also notice that by not eating as much and by eating better quality foods your dog will gradually become more energetic and begin to feel better. After his initial exposure to the new food he will probably eat smaller portions because he's nutritionally getting what he needs from the Natural Dog Food and he likes the taste of his new food better.

As I sit here and write this article and my loving dog Rodeo keeps dropping his ball on my keyboard wanting to play, I want to be sure and mention what I think can be the most important benefit of choosing a good dog food -- Keeping them around as long as possible and making sure they are happy and healthy while we do it! Don't fool yourself, feeding a Quality Natural Dog Foods most certainly will extend your dog's life and help keep them healthy. Most importantly, for every time I get to throw that ball, it's truly a great day in both my life and Rodeo's life!
