Organic Dog Treats
Health Advantages

What's are Organic Dog Treats? If you're a spoiled dog owner, then unless you've had your head buried in the sand somewhere, you have most certainly seen the wide variety of new nutritional dog treats that have replaced the regular commercial dog treats. There is so many to choose from and each with a different label.

So how do you determine what makes a dog treat organic? The simple answer is what ingredients have been used to make it. The problem is, you have to be very careful about examining the labels of dog treats today.

You need to stick to the same rules that you use to choose your own foods. If the label is full of junk and items you can't pronounce along with preservatives, it's probably not something you would include in your diet, right? So don't feed it to your dog!

An Organic Dog Treat must have been grown with NO use of chemical if it is grown and/or administered hormones if it is an animal. Always be sure to read the label and ensure that you are receiving a complete authentic organic product.

An organic product can contain water and salt and still be considered 100% organic. Other products may use the Organic label but only be about 95% organic in their ingredients. If it's labeled that it's only made with Organic ingredients then only 70% of that actual ingredients are organic.

It's important to consider the ingredients in your dog treats just as you would in your dog food. Poor quality foods directly impact your dog's health and lifespan. For more information on choosing a quality dog food Click Here .

What To Leave Out
of Your Organic Treats

Another option when you are concerned about your dog's treats ingredients is to prepare them yourself at home. There are numerous recipes available online for you to choose from. Your job is simply to find the fresh ingredients at your local farmers market or grocery store.

Remember when choosing an organic treat or ingredient that any organic food should not contain the following:

  • chemicals
  • preservatives
  • fillers
  • pesticides
  • fertilizers
  • artificial colors
  • additives

As you can see, it's not only important to read the label to see what's in your organic dog treats but also to see what isn't in your organic dog treats.

Add Vitamins To Your Organic Treats

This is also a great time to consider any additional dietary or health needs your dog may have. Is there something you can specifically add organically to the treat that will say improve the vitamin content that your dog is needing? If you're able to “vitamize” your dog treats, it's like giving your dog a vitamin each time they get a dog treat. What an easy way to address a nutritional issue.

By making the choice as a dog owner to choose a quality dog treat for them, you are giving them the gift of better health and a longer lifespan. In turn, you also get to share in the added lifespan time that comes with a healthier diet with your precious pup, and isn't what dog ownership is all about!
