Hi, I’m Michelle Houser,
Welcome to "Solve the Dog Food Puzzle"
Dear fellow dog lover and pet parent,
My story began a couple of years ago when my loving dog Rodeo, a male Border Collie who was only two at the time, began to really struggle with arthritis and joint pain from an earlier injury.
♥ Watching Rodeo suffer became my main motivator for researching and writing this guide and to find an answer for Rodeo's pain and discomfort. ♥ I wanted a solution that didn't involve heavy medication and a dog food that was actually good for him. ♥ In short, I wanted to become a truly informed pet parent and find the truth behind the dog food labels.

became my main motivator for researching and writing this guide with a goal of finding relief for Rodeo's pain and discomfort.I decided to use my twenty plus years of experience as a dog owner, breeder and years spent working for a well known veterinarian and national vet supply company to research dog food and find real answers.
In addition to his constant pain and the ongoing dog food recalls, I worried that I wasn't feeding him healthy or safe dog food and I knew that I wasn't informed enough to make quality dog food choices for him.
Then last summer we adopted a female Border Collie named Maddie from a local rescue shelter. We had been searching for a playmate for Rodeo for about two years but we had not considered adoption.
I was searching online for a puppy, when Maddie's picture came up from a rescue shelter about forty miles away.
I instantly made the call to get more information about Maddie. Unfortunately she came from less than ideal circumstances and had been kept on a chain the whole first year of her life.
She was extremely underweight and needless to say, had serious nutritional issues. We made plans to take Rodeo up to meet Maddie and see how they would get along.
We knew instantly that Maddie was going to become a part of our family and with years of experience raising and training dogs on our side, we were allowed to take Maddie home that very night.
I thought it would be simple...
and I would simply do a little reading and pick a food that would meet their needs and be done. I was wrong!
Although I had worked in the industry for many years, I was sorely uniformed about the complexity of dog food manufacturing and misleading ingredients found on the label of the bag.
I had much to learn and although the material was overwhelming, I decided to dig in and learn everything I could to help Rodeo and Maddie become happy, healthy dogs.
